About us

‘Magdalénka’ is a children’s folklore club founded in November of 2002. The name ‘Magdalénka’ is derived from the name for the oldest variety of grapes historically grown in the hills surrounding ‘Modra’. The roughly 60 members of the club are made up of children aging from four to fifteen years of age. Throughout its existence the club has received many notable awards focusing on depicting scenes of the traditional way of life in ‘Modra’, characterised by its pottery and viticulture. The authors of individual singing and dancing parts try to map in detail the ethnography of the town and the surrounding areas of the Small Carpathian region from ‘Záhorie’ to ‘Trnava’. The folklore performance stays true to stories and life events of the past with minimal adjustments made for the stage.
